Richard 'Dick' Marcott

Richard Marcott, age 87, of Spring Valley, died Monday, January 19, 2026, at his home in Cady Township.

A memorial service will be on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Spring Valley.

Visitation will be on Saturday, January 24 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Lutheran prior to the service.

Richard Norman Marcott was born July 12, 1938, at Marshfield, Wisconsin to Norman and Dolores (Strassburg) Marcott.  They lived in Stetsonville, Wisconsin until 1954 when his dad bought Clear Creek Cheese Factory in Cadott, Wisconsin.  He worked for his dad in the cheese factory and hauling canned milk. He also enjoyed setting pins at the local bowling alley.  He became a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cadott and on  April 22, 1961, Dick married Joyce Rasmeier at St. John’s.

He moved to Red Wing, Minnesota and drove semi until 1964 when his dad bought Cady Cheese Factory in Spring Valley. In April of 1976, Dick landed his dream job at McMillin Motors of Woodville, Wisconsin. He hauled the first load of motors from that plant and retired in 2002. Dick had over 3 million  accident free miles in his driving career.

After retiring he started collecting and repairing farm toys.  He built one-of-a-kind prairie tractors.  This led to displaying his work at many toy shows and in the fall the threshing shows.

He was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Delores Marcott; sister Deanna and husband Lavern Michelson; and brother Dale Marcott.

He is survived by Joyce, his wife of 64 years; children and grandchildren: Eve (James) Pearson and children Kelley (Leroy) Zimmerman and Kelsey (Greg) Schrag; Julie and Chris Blegen and children Christoper and Steven Blegen; and Lana and Jody Anderson; great grandchildren: Everett Blegen, Lennon and Waylon Zimmerman; sister-in-law Wendy Marcott; other relatives and friends.

Honorary bearers are Dick’s grandchildren.
